About PolArt

A cultural milestone 50 years in the making

PolArt is a vibrant, all-ages, family-friendly festival that proudly showcases the beauty and richness of Polish culture through visual art, folkloric dance, theatre, music, literature and more.

From 27 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, Adelaide will come alive as it hosts over 500 artists from across Australia, New Zealand and the local community, inviting festival-goers to immerse themselves in the sounds, flavours and stories of Poland.

This year, PolArt will mark its 50th anniversary. This milestone festival will offer an exciting program celebrating Polish heritage while inspiring new generations to connect with time-honoured traditions.

Held every three years, PolArt is the largest and longest-running Polish cultural festival outside of Poland. PolArt Adelaide 2025 will honour the rich history of Polish culture in Australia and New Zealand, blending cherished customs with fresh, exciting experiences for all to enjoy.

The history of PolArt

Established in 1975 as ArtPol by the Federation of Polish Women in Australia and New Zealand, PolArt has become the premier festival promoting the multicultural character of both nations. Adelaide proudly hosted the second PolArt festival in 1980 and has since welcomed the event in 1994 and 2009. It will return in 2025 to celebrate PolArt's 50th anniversary.

PolArt has captivated audiences across Australia, with past festivals held in Sydney (1975, 1991, 2003, 2022), Brisbane (1988, 2000, 2018), Melbourne (1984, 1997, 2015), Hobart (2006), and Perth (2012), growing in size and popularity with each festival.

The festival has been showcased at world-class venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, and Queensland Performing Arts Centre, as well as iconic Adelaide locations like the Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide Convention Centre, and Thebarton Theatre.

PolArt unites Polish communities across Australia and New Zealand, with first, second, third, and fourth-generation Polish youth participating as the main artists and volunteers, preserving and sharing Polish culture for future generations.
